The Acura MDX also called as Honda MDX is a mid-sized crossover sport utility vehicle, manufactured by the Japanese automaker, Acura. The sports car was first released in 2001. It is the first sports car to have third row seat. The variant closely relates to the Honda Pilot. The name MDX stands for Multi Dimensional luXury car. The sports car is manufactured at the Honda of Canada Manufacturing Ltd in Canada.
Generally speaking, the model was released in 2000 as 2001 model vehicle, as a replacement to the SLX version built based on the Isuzu Trooper model. The sports car filled the gap left over by the Honda Horizon model in 1999. The SUV model was available in the Australia and Japan market in 2003. All the models were featured with standard Kiwi style wheels, and rear seat DVD entertainment system. The crossover SUV has the seating capacity to accommodate up to 7-passengers.
The current Acura MDX is powered by a standard 3.7 liter V6 VTEC engine that produces power up to 300 hp at an angular speed of 6000 rpm and torque of 275 lb ft at an angular speed of 5000 rpm. The other notable features in the model include Acura navigation system with Acura Link real time traffic and curve conquering super handling all wheel drive. Though the model is featured with the innovative gadgets that help driver all the way, there are some technical problems, which occur very rarely with those electrical gadgets like the navigation system does not provide enough information all the time.
